The demand for health-focused and convenient options like those offered at Maha Juice Bar is on the rise. According to a 2023 report from IBISWorld, the açaí bowl market reached a revenue of $846 million, and the U.S. Juice & Smoothie Bars industry grew to a market size of $4.0 billion with a growth rate of 1.4%. “These numbers reflect a thriving market and solidify the appeal of investing in a franchise like ours,” says Pastorio.

Pastorio’s feel-good brand also has sound financial footing for Maha Juice Bar franchisees because of Americans’ buying preferences. U.S. consumers put their money where their mouths are in terms of healthy diets. Deloitte research found that 84% of consumers consider health and wellness in their food choices and 55% will pay a premium for the food that contributes to their health and wellness. Other Deloitte findings were:

  • 80% of consumers believe fresh food is healthier than packaged or processed food, even products that are marketed as healthy.

  • 79% think proper dietary nutrition can boost mental or physical performance.

  • 78% believe proper nutrition can prevent health problems.

  • 76% agree that a healthful diet can provide therapeutic benefits.

“Maha Juice stands for healthful practices in every menu offering, from our bowls and sandwiches to our smoothies and juices,” Pastorio says. “Like my mother, I’ve always made juicing a huge part of my diet. I feed my two teenagers the same fresh, healthy foods that Maha Juice serves our customers.” Below, she identifies the top seven wellness trends for 2025 and discusses how Massachusetts-based Maha Juice Bar feeds into all of them.

Top 7 Wellness Trends for 2025

1. Nature-Based Diets

“No. 1 on the list is nature-based diets,” she says. “Nature-based eating continues to rise in popularity, because it offers many health benefits.” Harvard Medical School has gone so far as to design the perfect plate of food, with about a fourth of the meal being “a healthy protein,” and vegetables, whole grains and fruit comprising the other 75%.

U.S. physicians and nutritionists widely recommend the plant-based Mediterranean diet. “The Mediterranean diet can lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and many other chronic conditions,” according to the Cleveland Clinic, adding that “you eat mostly veggies, fruits and whole grains.” Maha Juice Bar emphasizes fresh, plant-based ingredients, Pastorio says, “making it an ideal choice for health-conscious consumers.”

2. Functional Beverages

No. 2 on the list of top seven wellness trends for 2025 is functional beverages. “These drinks are infused with health-promoting ingredients – some boost energy or enhance immunity,” Pastorio says. “They’re trending right now.” Global consumer intelligence company NielsenIQ reported that U.S. sales of functional beverages jumped 54%, reaching $9.2 billion, from March 2020 to March 2024.

Maha Juice Bar’s beverages feature health-enriching turmeric, ginger, chia seeds and more. Examples include the franchise’s Detox Power and Spicy Pineapple Carrot juices as well as its Blue Peach and Pre- and Post-Workout smoothies.

3. Personalized Nutrition

“More and more consumers want to tailor what they eat and drink to meet their specific health goals,” Pastorio says. That may be a scoop of whey protein for a Maha Juice beverage or adding dragon fruit or acai to a bowl. Innova Market Insights for 2025 identified “nutrition forward” as a top consumer trend, with Americans “becoming more engaged with the positive role of nutrition for health, seeking out different healthier eating approaches.”

To that end, Maha Juice Bar offers full customization. “It’s part of our mission of customer service – meeting people where they are,” Pastorio adds. “We can add boosters and adjust ingredients to help each person meet individual wellness needs.”

4. Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Practices

According to a study by the food-producing company Cargill, sustainable sourcing influences 63% of food-buying decisions and responsible production influences 55%. Maha Juice takes that to heart, matching Americans’ goals to patronize brands that align with their personal attitudes about climate change and eco-friendly agriculture.

“Environmentally aware customers want to eat healthy and keep the earth healthy. Plant-based diets support sustainability,” Pastorio says. “These consumers prioritize brands that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability through locally sourced produce and biodegradable packaging.”

5. Immune-Boosting Foods

“After the pandemic, consumers still maintain a strong desire to eat and drink in ways that enhance their immune health,” Pastorio says. “They want natural ways to protect their well-being.” Maha Juice Bar is at the ready with immune-supporting ingredients like citrus fruits, berries and probiotics.

6. On-the-Go Wellness

“U.S. adults are probably the busiest people on the planet,” Pastorio says. “Parents help kids with homework, get them off to school and take them to extracurricular activities. Parents and singles hold demanding jobs, have to do errands and household chores. They often have trouble finding time for self-care and preparing healthy meals. Many are looking for convenient, health-conscious food they can enjoy on the move.

“The Maha Juice Bar business model provides a fast service that keeps customers coming back no matter how rushed they are,” she says. “There’s a quick turnaround even if they want a hearty meal with one of our customizable bowls or sandwiches.”

7. Superfoods and Adaptogens

Rounding out the top seven wellness trends for 2025 are superfoods and adaptogens, which are beneficial nontoxic plant or mushroom extracts. “These are gaining attention for their ability to reduce stress, boost energy and improve overall health,” Pastorio says. Superfoods include avocados, beets, berries, chia seeds, garlic, ginger, green tea, lentils, pumpkin, salmon, yogurt and dark leafy greens such as spinach and kale, Cleveland Clinic says. Maha Juice Bar uses many of these ingredients.

By satisfying these seven wellness trends, Maha Juice pleases the growing ranks of health-conscious consumers, Pastorio says. “Our business model has a strong profit potential because we can quickly serve nutritious food that’s affordable and customizable. Franchisees should be passionate about nutrition as well as be ambassadors for the brand. We train them for everything else they’ll need for success.”
